Alumni! Welcome to
the DEIL alumni site! This is your site!
Our alumni effort, which began in 1990 under the Directorship of
Braj Kachru, was spearheaded by Laura Hahn (1986) and me. Its
origins are documented in DYI Spring 1990 above. It was
our goal, then as now, that DEILing You In would
keep you informed of happenings in DEIL and in the lives of your
fellow graduates--now exceeding 1200! Apparently, our work has
struck a chord with many of you; we have been so surprised and
pleased at the number of alumni who have thanked us for seeing that
DYI reaches you semester after semester. It has certainly been our
pleasure!
This Website is another means to further our original goal.
Thanks to our 1999-2000 editor, Jean Czaja, we now have two
offerings here. The first is a "two-way street" -- a way you can
help us help you. Our Alumni Update
Form makes it easy for you to
keep us informed of changes in your e-mail and postal addresses and
of developments in your personal and professional lives. I hope you
will avail yourself of this opportunity to feed us the latest scoop.
Our second offering is an electronic version of current and back
issues of DYI. They
are available in PDF format, readable (and printable) with Adobe
Acrobat Reader which is free to anyone. (If you need Acrobat Reader,
to find Adobe's download site.) You can always read the latest issue of
DYI at your nearest
Web connection.
Budget constraints in DEIL forced us in Spring 2004 to the
decision that subsequent issues of DYI would be
delivered via this website only. If we have your current e-mail
address, then we will notify you whenever a new issue of the
newsletter is available. So please keep that in mind when you change
your e-mail contact.
As most of you know, some past issues of DYI
contained inserts, listing alumni e-mail addresses. We do not
include those inserts in the PDF documents above. As always, if you
wish to locate a classmate, send your inquiry to me, and I'll let
you know what contact information we have (unless the classmate has
asked that the e-mail address be used only for notification
purposes). This is a courtesy
extended to alumni only.
Please stay in touch. Let us hear from you so you can keep on hearing
from us!
Our best wishes,
Wayne Dickerson Consulting Editor dickrson+DYI@uiuc.edu
